RISE AND SHINE! RISE AND SHINE!
Whether one likes to start your day with a hearty breakfast or not, breakfast is not only a meal that one shouldn’t miss but... RISE AND SHINE!

Whether one likes to start your day with a hearty breakfast or not, breakfast is not only a meal that one shouldn’t miss but that can really determine your effectiveness in the day.  According to minnesotacbslocal.com, the most common bedtime for adults is between 10 pm and 12 am and according to edisonresearch.com, the most common wake up time is between 6 am and 6:30 am.  This means that from possibly 10 pm to 6:30 am, one could have no food to fuel their bodies.  The body entire body benefits from a nutritious breakfast but most importantly the brain will function better.  According to netdoctor.co.uk, those who skip meals could possibly suffer lower dopamine levels than those who don’t skip.  This means that the person who missed breakfast may not feel the reward or accomplishment that each day has to offer until after lunchtime.  Our bodies know what we need to get us through the day, amazing right?  Anyways, most of us who don’t prefer to eat breakfast, don’t because we feel weighed-down and lethargic, and we want to keep our energy up.  This is a plausible excuse, but what if it is not eating that brings on the lethargy? What if it is what we typically eat that brings on the sluggish feeling?  If  you’re not convinced to start eating breakfast quite yet, here are some tips that may help you to reconsider so that you can rise and shine every day!

#1-HEALTHY CEREALS THAT ARE LIGHTLY SWEETENED

Eating a cereal that is packed with vitamins and nutrients, can make for a beautiful start in your day.  Quinoa, for instance, could be a great option.  Not only is quinoa a superfood, but when cooked right, it can be eaten like a hot cereal.  If you’re not a quinoa person, there are other grains out there that you can lightly sweeten and get the protein and energy you will need to make a dent in your action item list.

#2-LACTOSE FREE YOGURT OR PARFAIT

Fruit and yogurt parfaits are a classic meal or snack that are easy to love. However, eating this meal using superb ingredients that are easy to digest is where you’ll really make progress.  According to Kimberly Snyder’s book “The Beauty Detox Solution”, lactose is not necessarily optimal for human digestion.  Your tummy will thank you when you swap out your regular yogurt for your lactose-free yogurt.  It’s not only beneficial to look for the lactose-free yogurt but the non-GMO, added sugars, dyes, etc.  You can always add fresh fruit for sweetness, along with a moderate amount of pure honey.  The yogurt, paired with gluten-free granola, fresh fruit or fresh fruit compote is sure to deliver a great beginning of the day.

#3-SMOOTHIES

Smoothies need no introduction; they are surely one of the best ways to start off your day.  They are offered in innumerable variations, and some are so tasty, it almost seems deceptive that they are also extremely healthy for you.  It should be noted that whatever route you take when making or choosing one to order, that you are not going overboard with the sugar intake.  Fruit is healthy, but it is good only in moderation, so make sure whatever recipe you choose has a good balance of veggies like, kale, spinach, and carrot.  This could never be hurtful with all the health benefits they offer right?  Kale, being a superfood, super-star.  If you’ve somehow dodged the smoothie wave and somehow smoothies don’t excite you don’t be discouraged. You are not the only one on the planet that finds the taste the texture or flavor off-putting.  Always keep in mind that most places are willing to help you make a smoothie your own, meaning you can add sweetness to make them more to your liking.  If you’re not sure where to start, Green Smoothies have reigned supreme as they can be tasty and loaded with health benefits.  If the texture of smoothies is off-putting for you, consider juicing, and paring the nutrient dense beverage with some fruit.

Skipping breakfast may not seem like such a big deal; with all the time demands, the unhealthy options to choose from, the inconvenience involved in making healthy preparations at home that many suffer today.  However, it is possible to eat a nutritious breakfast. Consider all that breakfast has to offer; like brain health, which includes your ability to process, problem-solve, and focus.  Also, take into consideration that you will feel rewarded and on-top of things in your day, sooner than later. These are just a few of the many options out there to assist you in being more conscious about eating breakfast but be assured there are many, many more.  There are options that you can tailor to your preferences and make your own.  You are what you eat, so be sure to eat something that is healthy so that you can rise and shine!
